Roof Jack Installation when Supplied By Chief 1. Cut a neat hole in roof panel with minimum clearance for pipe and install pipe. 2. Cut pliable Roof Jack using sharp pair of scissors, avoiding nicks. Hole should be 1/2" to 2" smaller than diameter of pipe to be flashed. 3. Drill 3/16" diameter holes at approximately 1-1/2" C.C. around base of Roof Jack. 4. Apply Double Bead Tape Mastic to underside of Roof Jack. Then using water as a lubricant, slide it onto the pipe until it meets panel. 5. Press Roof Jack base into contours of panel. A blunt tool can be used to press flanges into place at sharp angles. 6. Begin fastening Roof Jack progressively to roof panel with 1/4-14x7/8" WT at opposite sides, using predrilled holes as a template. 7. Install Stainless Steel Clamp around top of Roof Jack to secure it to the pipe (Not By Chief). General Notes: · In Northern Climates, the pipe penetration should be protected from moving ice or snow with a snow retention system (Not By Chief). Roof Jacks Not Supplied By Chief · Do Not Use Galvanized Roof Jacks, Lead Hats, or other residential grade Roof Jacks. These Roof Jacks do not have a 20 year service life and in case of Lead Hats will cause Galvanic Corrosion of the roof panel. · Use EPDM rubber Roof Jacks with an integral aluminum band bonded into the perimeter of the base. EPDM Roof Jacks have a temperature range from -65°F to 212°F. Use Silicon Roof Jacks for high temperatures. Silicone Roof Jacks have a temperature range of -100°F to 437°F. · Do not use Tube Sealant to seal the Roof Jack to the panels. Use roll tape sealer (Not By Chief) between the Roof Jack and the roof panel and attach the Roof Jack to the roof panel with 1/4-14x7/8 long life fasteners (Not By Chief) 1-1/2" C.C. around the base of the Roof Jack.
